About

BioBarcode Australia

BioBarcode is a Perth-based biotechnology education-focused social enterprise responding to two challenges facing Australia currently: Engaging students in STEM learning experiences, and global biodiversity loss.

We hope to tackle these challenges by providing STEM learning experiences for schools and the community. BioBarcode’s flagship project ‘The Australian Barcode for Life’ offers Australian primary and secondary schools an innovative, authentic and interdisciplinary project-based learning experience.

Our Story

BioBarcode Australia was established in 2020. We have been working with West Australian schools and organisations, keen to be keeping pace with relevant, authentic Enviro-STEM skills and opportunities. We have trialled successfully a new Citizen Science Project as well as individual activities making DNA technologies accessible to all Australians.

Meet Pauline

Pauline is the experienced, passionate science educator who established BioBarcode Australia. With a motto of ‘make it real and make it fun’ her mission is to demystify DNA technologies for all Australians via an innovative citizen science project that helps identify unrecorded species before we lose them while building environmental stewardship.
